Volterra is good for breakfast too – who would of thought?

in Hash Browns

This morning, after an extended hiatus from the breakfast circuit, I made my comeback by trying one of my all time favorite dinner restuarants – but this time for breakfast!  I had heard from several people that Volterra had a good breakfast, but always thought of this place for their hearty, comforting, rustic Italian dinner menu featuring such dishes as Braised Lamb Shank and Braised Pork Cheeks…Mmmm…Mmmm…Mmmm, but this blog is not titled “Dinner with Mike”  so I digress.

As my readers know, I favor Eggs Benedict and use that as the constant to provide an apples-to-apples comparison between breakfast spots and that was unfortunately missing from the menu.  However, they did serve the 2nd most important breakfast item, shredded hash browns, as opposed to the crappy warmed over country potatoes most places serve.  I enjoyed the Bacon, Provolone, Avocado, and Green Onion Scramble which was served with the aforementioned Hash Browns along with some rustic buttered toast and fruit.

While I wish they had Eggs Benedict, I was overall very happy with Volterra and would not hesitate to go back or recommend it to friends.  I found it good for the very same reasons I love it for dinner and that is because they focus on having killer ingredients and keeping the preparation methods seemingly simple which results in a tasty breakfast that was flavorful, not greasy and just the right size.

YEA!!!! So glad you are back to posting. This place sounds yum, though I am dissapointed they did not have my favorite, eggs benedict as well, it still sounds fabulous.
